Recently purchased a property as is that contains old Allis tractors, crawlers(k) and graders all but one k model crawler with wheel steering are non operational. One grader is Allis tractor style, others are 4 cyl gas conventional and one Fiat Allis 4 cyl gas grader. Auction vs advertise individual items? Also has old MCCormick Deering crawlers and dragline.

If you list them on this site, along with pictures, I suspect you will make more off them with less hassle then any other way. There are a lot of honest, knowledgeable folks here will won't lead you astray.

Specialty items are sometimes hard to price let alone get what they may be worth - unless some knowledge of both rarity and work-ability is known.
Auction seems a good way but everyone at one is looking to steal something worth Hundreds for $10 Pictures and questions might get you some good ideas to start from . |

Recently attended an auction the prices were so low it was shameful Craigs list and this site would've made him 10 times as much money as what the auction did. Auctioneer spent a minute on each piece and sold it for below scrap value if you cannot sell it here or Craigslist scrap it yourself

If you want a man to be a successful farmer, give him a Allis Chalmers tractor. If you want him to be a successful mechanic, give him a John Deere

I do think the interest in these old crawlers and old tractors are going south. When scrap metal got so hi a few years ago a lot of equipment, cars were scrapped. Parts are very handy for the older crawlers and tractors so they can be expensive. Most have ended up in salvage yards. Like they say have you ever seen a poor guy that owns a salvage yard. I RECENTLY was at a salvage yard. I turned the corner and there were 5 hoods for an allis h4 crawler. mine isn't the best so I told the guy I would give him 50 bucks for one of them. he said they were 100 apiece. Since he had 5 of them and there really isn't much for salvage price I thought it was a fair offer. Well there probably still there. I don't have a problem with people making money with there salvage but one thing I do think is that they don't care about anything except how much money they make. I do think in 20 years there wont be anyone looking for these old crawlers of tractors. just my 3 cents worth.

Welcome! There might be some folks interested on here. parts machines or restorations if a desirable piece. I agree that some pictures might help with the direction to go and or spark some interest or at least get you some comments about what you have. Congratulations on buying the farm. Sounds like it has many old skeletons! Regards, Chris |
