does anyone know what the original tire size was on the AD 40 motor grader is?  i need two tires for the front steering axle and would like to replace the 13/24 that are on it now with the narrower originals so it will steer easier.  I HOPE

A 14.9x24 8 ply farm tractor tire would be close. If I still owned my tire shop those would cost you $313.24 each put on + tube + flap. Those are 8 ply farm tractor tires. You might contact your county road department. A lot of times they have some used ones laying around. The used ones may not have a lot of tread on them, but the casing on them is usually sound enough for a farm grader. True grader tires are 13:00x24 10 ply tires that would cost you $364.24 each put on + a new tube. That price usually includes a new flap.

the rear drive tires are definitely 13x24 but the steering axle rims are more like a 10x24. the front has 13x24 mounted now and it is real obvious the tires are to wide for the rim. the grader doesn't have power steering so since one tire is ruined and the other isn't far behind i would try to replace with something closer to original design.

Farm tire replacement for a old 10x24 would be 11.2x24. This must not have power to the front wheels. I don't think you would want a 4 ply tire on the front of this. The tire website I order tires from is down now. If it comes up tomorrow, I will get you a price so you can compair it with your local shop.

If i still owned the tire shop, 11.2X24 8 ply tires would cost you $260.00 each. These are farm tractor tires. Plus tubes and you would probably need a new flap.
