Topic: AC D17 series 1 1958 HYD Pump issuesPosted: 03 Aug 2020 at 7:54am |

I recently changed the HYD oil and replaced a failed hyd tube. When i start up the tractor it wants to raise the HYD rear arms to the top. When i hook up my signal connection HYD hose to the front loader as soon as the tractor is started it will raise the front loader, with both the levers on steering column in the low position and the traction booster lever in the low position. Inspected the linkage on both levers no issues. removed the internal HYD pump, Inspected everything looks to be working. One thing i did notice is with the Traction booster lever in the low position the Control valve stack is still pushed in on the HYD pump. which to me would cause the arms to raise. Looking for advice, I do have a manual and can provide pictures if needed.

guessing that you need to rebled the air out and check fluid levels....I have pumped rear arms by hand to help this along...

Did you disassembly the pump? Sounds like control spool is stuck. MACK

No i did not disassemble the pump before this issue, I removed it thinking their is a issue which is causing the HYD arms to lift when levers are in the lower position. the control valve stack moves fine in and out. Cams and rollers look good and work fine. The relief spring and seat look good. I believe when the control valve stack is pushed in it creates supply oil pressure? If so my Traction booster lever in the low position still is holding the control valve stack in. Not sure if that is correct?

My vote is linkage adjustment also. Check the Drawbar to pump linkage adjustment.

I did disconnect the drawbar linkage from HYD pump connection and problem still exist. When tractor is running the rear arms raise, and attached loader raises, regardless of positions of both levers. In the picture i have both levers in the lower position and the Control valve stack is still pushed in by traction booster lever, The lower lever is away from the control valve stack, The Traction booster linkage for lever, to my knowledge has no adjustment. Let me know what it could be. Thanks

With drawbar linkage removed, the loader and arms will raise to the top. With the same drawbar linkage mal-adjusted (too short) the loader and arms will raise to the top. This part must be installed and adjusted LONG enough that the lift cannot work unless the Traction Booster lever is raised 4 notches from clear up. All this is in the Owners manual.

adjust link from drawbar spring to pump cover until you only feel spring pressure on TB lever the last two notches from top. Takes a 3/4 wrench to adjust. MACK
