I start at 50 ft lbs, then 100 ft lbs, then 150 ft lbs and finally 165 ft lbs TWICE. Tappets at .017" cold.  There should be a paper with the new head gasket showing the torque sequence starting in the middle and working back and forth to the ends of the head.

It's been DECADES since I've done a gasser, so I don't remember. Look at the map they give you and basically start in the center and go back and forth working your way towards the front and rear of the cyl head.

Would all 301 motors be the same? I have an 8000 AC tech manual and the 8010? Had the 301 motor I think book at the farm and I’m not there yet.

Mine is a diesel they only gave me a torque sheet for gas so I was asking if the gas sheet I have will work for diesel motor I’m working on sorry for the confusion

The doctors prescription will work for any of the 301 and 426 engines.

I believe that 150# was the recommended torque on those engines, but somewhere along the line, it was increased to 165#. I would imagine that as the 301 and 426 were increased in horsepower, so was the head torque.

DrAllis. On more question (I really appreciate your help I’m new the doing major engine work).   I had a friend bring a 301 from his 190? Motor not in tractor. And it has broken rocker between 3 and 4 my question is if the take rocker assembly off to replace rocker can I just follow your steps for this row of bolts since the big one are head bolts as well. Work from center out each way or is it better to unscrew tappet adjusters to take pressure off to remove rod holding rockers?

Just start in the center and work back and forth on those six bolts. Do NOT remove ANY other head bolts. Blow a lot of air down inside each hole to be sure there's no oil.
