 Topic: A way to add weight to front end wd 45

Put the 54 plow on the wd45 narrow front end this morning and gave it a test run. Plenty of traction when pulling but the front is too light when i lift the plow. Slab weights eould be great but they are hard to find . What are thoughts on filling front tires with beet juice?

There are Wheel Weights meant for 15" and 16" wheels
The Allis Casting No. is AM 3684

OR you could go to the 'Pulling Forum' section and search for some pictures of Forum Members pulling with a WD or WD-45 and see how they add front weight.

 These are weights for a later 100 series, work pretty good for plowing.

Mike's version makes most sense. I have a plate across front with 14in of air tank welded to it sticking fwd. Mounts F&H rear wheel weights. Just what I had around.

My dad used a square bar supported by the front cultivator mount.

Dr p personally, I would put the calcium chloride right to the front tires and just replace the valve stems every couple years. And maybe front wheel weights also.

We had a '53 WD, it had tubes and calcium chloride in all 4 tires.

Water in my D 15 front tires added about 70 lbs per tire . Still haven't been out to the farm to see how much difference it made . Good luck

I don't particularly care for any fluid in front tires. They steer harder and it's permanent. Weights that can be added and removed is best.

My WF '52 WD came with a four foot piece of railroad track for a bumper/weight.
I have seen a few metal boxes bolted on tractor frames and filled with rocks or sand.

I’ve strapped a 30 gallon barrel to the front filled with water when done I siphoned the water out and took it off. when I returned the 3 pt pallet forks to the farm I no longer needed the wieght. It was very cheep and easy an empty plastic barrel is light and easy to install with a couple ratchet straps.

Thanks Dana. One of the more creative re-purposing of weights I've seen was pie-weights from an N Ford mounted on the original round bracket on the front of a 656. I have a box-full of them on the three point of my 720. Helps a bunch pushing snow!
