Had the day off today so felt like it was a good time to put the old AC 160 mower on and give the old girl a workout for a few hours.   Amazing how small it looks down in the bottom of the valley between the trees here.  Not to be left out, I took the other one out for a drive when I was done.

Nice pics. Thanks for posting. Mower looks to be well taken care of. I have mowed with a 172 set up like yours with the tires on the side. A lot easier to hook up and unhook. The one I have now is set up with the wheels behind so I can mow close to a fence. Great way to spend a day

My brother has 2 of them Also have tires to the back. Not really sure if 160 or 172 models

1939Dodge -- We were fortunate to get a few days in a row of it! I went back out today and mowed some more with her. Did a nice job and didn't overheat it or myself.
Pat the Plumber CIL -- Oh hey, another Central IL person, coolio! I see in the manual you can set the wheels to the side or the back. This way seems to lead to some interesting "trailing", but as you said it is quite easy to hook up. Nothing like spending some of the day in the tractor seat!
LaJaMe -- Not quite sure what the difference between the two is (I think the manual I have covers both). Seem to be really sturdy mowers!
shameless dude -- Indeed, I have always been amazed how well this thing cuts. Grandpa used it as a finish mower for his lawn for probably 20 years!

With good sharp blades and set level it will cut as good as a finish mower. Got in some mowing myself for the past 3 days.Cut around the edges and mowed the small areas with the Hindu Ford and 5 foot 3 point hitch mower and used the D15 and Sidewinder 6 foot trail behind for the bigger stuff. Had to buy a new pto shaft for the SW72, the old one had a slight bend in it after 60+ years of hard use, the new one weighed about half what the old one did.

One of ours has an extra blade above the 2 and our latest has just the 2. The one with the extra blade really chews up most anything. A real brush hog!!!

LaJaMe -- Yeah, according to the manual there was a "shredder" blade option you could buy for these mowers. I can see that being great for tearing up weeds and brush.
1939Dodge -- Whew, just after I got done with all that mowing, we've had 2 days of solid rains here after a dry spell. I was always curious if mowing affected the weather...
