Our shop has been a 'GOTO' sorta speak the past couple of days with a bunch of good old ALLIS-CHALMERS tractors in for service.  It's been a real nice change of pace from all the new yellow and red things.  You just have to keep your fingers crossed every time you look up the parts that they don't come up "OBSOLETE, DISCONTINUED" or keep hoping that the parts aren't so high priced that the owner calls the junkyard for a salvage bid.

Matt while your in there just happen to  "fall" forward and catch your self grabbing onto the KHD cover on the front of that 8000 series and "accidently" pull it off.  Let the nice AC emblem shine through!!!!!

Other than the faded paint it looks like a picture from a dealers shop from the mid 80s. Thanks for sharing it.

This picture is a example of another subject. People want service with their products from a dealer. These tractors left the dealership 30 years ago but when they need repairs, where do they go? They go back to the dealer. If you do not have a presence in a area guess what. No sales, which translates into no shop work. The work that a salesman did 30 years ago is still paying dividends today.
A majority of people default to what is local and handy because they want service long after the sale. Around my parts that means JD. They have a dealer pretty well every 50 miles. Very rare it any further. Our JD in town has 3 salesman and about 25 mechanics.

A new shortline place started up in town about 15 years ago and at the same time another 40 miles away. The one in town has 2 mechanics and 2 salesman. They gotta sell stuff for a couple bucks over cost to get anyone to buy cuz they won't fix nothing. They find enough do-it yourself types to selling to. Always been that way. The one in the other town adds on to the shop about every 3 years and adds another 2 mechanics each time. Now he has 5 salesman and 17 in the shop. He has a mobile crew do his most of his setup work.

These are amazing pictures.  Definitely looks like something from the 1980's.  None of these parts had better be no longer available.  AGCO said they'd provide service for 10 years after the last orange tractor was produced.

Not a tractor in there was produced by AGCO and production on ALL of them stopped many more than 10 years ago. If AGCO provides us replacement parts at all it's only because we still buy enough to make it worth their while, there's certainly no loyalty to the customer and no incentive to buy a new orange tractor by support of our old ones.
