Hi
Hoping someone can help. I have an 8030 powershift that was inching forward/ rolling with the clutch pedal all the way in. I replaced all shifting cables and clutch cable. I made the adjustments per the service manual. Its alot better. The issue I have is how much spring tension to put on the brake feel spring? Following the service manual I never get the pressures they have listed during the adjustment. I have a gauge plumbed into the valve and get 30 psi or so max when I start to brake but it doesnt hold it drops to 10-15 psi and holds? Is this ok, or is there internal leakage in the transmission brake?. Is there a better method to adjusting the brake feel spring? Thanks! |

The brake feel spring is just there to let you know your are entering the brake pressure application jone of travel. Install the gauge - press pedal down to where pressure comes up to 5 psi - the adjust the spring via nut to get the pedal to read 0 as the pedal reaches the spring. Therefore when the pedal is depressed it dumps pressure to the clutches at the point of touching the 'feel' spring. Depressing clutch further should gradually increase the brake pressure to 1 up to approx 30 -50 PSI - it should not fall off as long as the clutch has the valve in brake mode. IF it does you have a leak in the brake system or a sticking inching valve spool. A2 clutch pac flyball could be sticking or C1 or A1 flyball not releasing. IF the tractor wants to creep with say 15 PSI when the oil is up to operating temp - then either the brake is worn or you have warped clutch plates in one or more of the clutch pacs - a good tranny brake will almost equal depressing both brakes at less than .5 mph = a sudden stop.
