| This is what the service manual states but is it accurate?   I am also working on a 7020 engine (Out of a M2 combine). Edited by nowaktj - 24 Sep 2025 at 1:06pm | |

I bought new rod bolts from AGCO.   I looked at the head of the bolts and they are stamped with "EMP" and "170M". Here is a post I found from 2015:   301CI allis motor model 649T - AllisChalmers Forum

80-85 ft lbs for 301 rod bolts is toooo much !!   Must be an I & T book ??   45 ft lbs is A-C spec. Edited by DrAllis - 24 Sep 2025 at 8:26pm

AGCO shop manual states the main bearing cap as being a Grade 8 bolt to be torqued to 135 ft lbs.  The conn rod bolts are 3/8-24 , Grade 100, torqued to 45 ft lbs.  | |

This engine, out of a M2 combine, I plan on putting into a 7020.   I noticed excessive crank end play so pulled the pan to discover the clutch side of the #4 bearing has the shoulder wiped off of it.   What would have caused this?   I plan on putting in new main bearings but if the crank is cut wrong or ??, I don't want to throw my money away.
