Nope, black belly went to using the Power Director as the main wet clutch too, maroon used a dry foot clutch. Shifter is different I believe and cab ofcourse. I'm sure there are other minor differences.

There was an update to the transmission brake to a stronger spring and lever setup due to the additional drag of the wet clutch causing hard shift problems in cold weather. And that was modified mid-production with the black bellies to an even higher compression rate spring later on through a TSB. The black belly also had the HD front end as an option (same axle as the 7010-8070). Additionally, there was a change to the ac condenser and I believe transmission cooler with the changeover. Because the powershift/power director clutch acted as the wet clutch, the PTO valve was moved to an external valve from the valve plate on the side of the transmission housing. That valve was utilized as the inching valve for the clutch. Otherwise, I think everything has been covered on here. Those are most of the things I have run into.

The HD front axle was available on maroon belly tractors also, I know of several with that option.

Ok so a black powertrain color 7000 has the Power Director and not the 3 speed p owershift thing,? Correct ? I'd really like the Power Director option sounds like the other option gets real expensive to rebuild!

The model 7000 tractor was always and only available as (what was called) a POWER SHIFT version. It was never a 6-speed PST transmission like the larger tractors. It was a Low-Direct-Overdrive wet clutch located where the Power Director clutch was on a 180-190-200. The transmission was a 4-speed with a Park feature. Brown tractors used a dry foot clutch. Black tractors had the Power Shift wet clutch slightly redesigned to always start in LOW range, eliminating the need for the dry type foot clutch.

THE MAROON UNITS had a weak spot in the dry clutch - throw out brg. It did not fare well in big round baler usage. The fix - a wet clutch was actually a cost reduction - other than the engineering cost.
