301 is 3 7/8" bore, 426 is 4 1/4". Not sure what you're wanting to do, but not sure how you'd make a 301 piston ever come close to working in a 426.

a fairly popular thing to use is case 401 pistons modified for a 301, and custom sleeves. They are 4 1/8" bore. ops heads on here sets up kits. I have a bunch of those pistons that need finished machining.

From what I've been told, you have to have the top of the case piston machined. I have not done this, yet. Some day I may get around to building my 301, but until then, that is all I know about the piston deal. I'm not making them, or anything like that, so no point in calling me and asking questions.

I'd say it would take alot of head work to get it to run good as the heads don't flow real great

We have a 4.5 bore with custom sleeves and bored block. That's about the 100%max you can go with a 301 on bore. Have to have a deck plate to keep top of block together. I have started another project with some help it's a 451 case piston that I will all so be running a deck plate it is in the works and on hold. Hopping that the smaller bore will make it live longer.
