190XT front support

   I have found a front support from a 180 #70256326 at a local salvage yard. AGCO shows this as the same front support as a 200. I have a 190XT with a bad engine that I have thought about getting a markII engine out of a combine to replace it. The 190XT I have that has the markII engine has had the steering bellcrank moved for clearance, it works but isn't ideal. If I bought that front end support would that give enough clearance to not have to change the steering? I know there is also a different mount at the back of the wishbone, and I understand that changing to a combine engine requires changing the front of the engine to get the hydraulic pump mounted. This is a project I may never get to, but if I have the correct parts it is more likely. Thank you in advance.

	I'm assuming you are using AGCO Parts books to come up with that p/n for the front support ?? If so, you are correct. That is the p/n for a 200 tractor, but I don't think there was ever a 180 built that used it. The 200 came out in 1972 and would have utilized that newer/lower front axle pivot pin casting beginning with the model 200 tractor. My aging and sometimes feeble and pea-sized brain remembers when the 185 tractors got that deep oil pan/oil pump/front casting change and it was late 1976 or sometime in 1977. There were no 180's made after 1973, so they never got the change. So, I think you are a victim of AGCO discontinuing the old part and subbing up to the new p/n. That's what I think. I could be wrong. If there is an actual casting number of what you say on that front support, then someone changed it out years ago. It is pretty obvious to tell which casting it really is. The casting you want has that pin hole more than 2 inches lowered compared to your current one. Probably closer to 3 inches. Pretty easy to measure in chassis with a piece of number 9 wire bent like a calipers to establish a dimension.

	It may have come from a 185, the salvage yard has it listed as fitting a 180/185 along with the part number. I remember the tractor it came from had the black stripes instead of white, but I don't remember the number. It is the only one in the yard, I will try to check the serial next time I am there. Ted
