190 XT 3pt lift oil seals

I would like to know what type of seal is used on the torsion lift bar for the 3 pt hitch (leaking hydraulic fluid).  I've heard they are simply O-rings,  but am wondering about size if they are O-rings (shaft is 2.25").   Any help is appreciated

There are O-rings that need to be replaced, but that won't solve your leaking problems.  There are also bushings inside the housing that need to be replaced since they are also worn.  The bushings and O-rings can be purchased from any AGCO dealer.

Did them on my 175 last year.  The 190XT is up next for that repair as well.

Take the shaft right out of the housing.  Get a big socket that is just a bit smaller than the diameter of the shaft.  Put a long extension on the socket so it does not fall in to the housing.  Get a pipe only big enough to fit over the socket extension, it must be long enough to get through both sides of the housing. 

Insert this "tool" in the left side in order to punch out the right side bushing. Position it such that the socket is against the bottom of the inner edge of the bushing (you might need someone to hold the socket in place).  Then take a hammer and hit the end of the pipe.  Once you move the bottom of the bushing, move it around to the top and sides.  Keep doing it until it comes out.  Repeat this procedure for the other side.

I worked at an AC dealer in the early to mid 70's and when the tractors with dual speed PTO first came out the seals on the lift arm shaft would leak on brand new tractors. We had a number of 190XT III's and 200's that had this problem. AC blamed it on the PTO gears kicking the oil around in the lift arm housing, which made sense.  The fix AC came up with at the time was to remove the lift arm housing, remove the shaft and bore each end of the housing out to accept a spring loaded lip seal. I never understood why the the O-ring would not properly seal the oil with everything new, but it did not. I always wondered it the may not of had the o-ring grove bored a little large in the housing.

The shaft will not come out without removing a wheel. No need to go to all that extra work. Remove both lift arms, slide shaft just past bushing, with a muffler chisel cut the bushing within 1/4" of end of bushing, with lift shaft drive bushing out of housing.
 I made a bushing driver that will go through bushing, turn, then fit against bushing and use lift shaft as a slide hammer drive bushing to out side.
 I never liked the seals AC came out with to replace the orings. When I get one with seals, I put both orings and seals. Never had a leak problem with orings if bushings and orings are good.   MACK

Thanks DS, Pirlbeck and Mack,  I didn't notice the bushing when I took it apart but wasn't looking at it that close.     I will let you know how it goes when I do it.   I'll have to order parts and believe I'll need to use it to cut and bale this next week the way it looks.

Pulling old bushings is not going well with slide hammer type tool.  I want to try removing the shaft and try to drive it out.    I've not taken rear tire off of an AC before.   How do you take the rear tire off of 190 XT?

To take the wheel center off at the axle, you will likely need the special pusher bolts.  To just take the tire/rim off of the wheel center, you just need to undo the clamps around the wheel and then take the tire off.
