12 row 7200 finger pickup on 7030

Plan to pull planter with my 7030, Or my 7580. Not sure yet.

X2 with DrAllis comments. The mechanical 7200 should be a good planter combo with most ANY tractor.
If PO has not had finger pickup meters professionally tested at Precision Planting, get them boxed up & shipped to Tremont IL (if they still do them?) or deliver them to your local Precision rep for testing, rebuilding, & calibration.
Try to mix a talc/graphite lubricant powder mixed into seed. It doesn’t take a lot(1-2oz per hopper). Fingers, springs, ash-trays etc will thank you for lubricant. Singulation belts get brittle with age, so change them every testing. Too much talc/graphite & the seed tube monitors may get overly dusted & then prompt no seed. Buy a seed tube brush for occasional tube cleaning. Brush can usually be stored away inside one of the insecticide boxes.

The planters I am used to were all three point, and what I remember is a single hose for the markers, so assuming you have either lift assist or a pull type planter. If it has double acting cylinders to raise and lower plumbing the return to the case drain would actually slow it down. The oil that you are returning is the same oil you pushed out through the valve under pressure to lift it, and having pressure push it back would help. I think the previous owner may have heard about going back to the case drain to help with hydraulic heat issues on the vacuum planters, particularly if you pulled it with a green tractor.
The finger unit is a good unit that had a lot of aftermarket available. Where I worked we did a lot of sweet corn that didn't always have good seed shape so we would usually replace the brushes twice a year, sometimes three times depending on seed to keep from getting doubles. I also worked on one that was never used for sweet corn and didn't see near as many acres, used the Precision brushes in that one. If I remember right they are adjustable. Precision has youtube videos showing their products and some of the common issues if you aren't familiar with that unit.
