Ok guys u need help. We swapped my Norden Wide front on my wd today and went back to narrow front. I bought the tractor a year ago and it had the norden. We got a spare narrow front bolster with the spindle and did the swap today. Steering tightened up a bit but it's also harder to turn it. I didn't notice any shims between the spindle retaining bolt and the bearing in my pedestal on either one of the front ends but I could have easily dropped them when I was yanking everything apart. All there should be to put the spindle on the nf is the bolt, large washer, shims and the square key/pin right? I'll look for the shims but was also told that there was another pin ( can't find it in any diagrams) that kept the large washer on the retaining bolt from spinning? Help please!!

I should also add that we didn't swap bolsters just took the nf spindle off and unbolted the norden

The large washer should tighten up against spindle shaft. MACK

It does but Im reading and being told that there are shims between that washer and the shaft to adjust the bearing pre-load.

I found the shims. Do I add them to make it tighter on the bearing or take them out to make tighter?one of my problems was that I used an impact to tighten it. I think it overtightened it but after I tookk the bolt out and took out 2 shims, retightened with a socket it loosened the steering up a bit.
