I am looking for any information on a level that was given to me. Its red and has "PROPERTY OF ALLIS CHALMERS CO." printed on a brass plate on top around the level bubble, it weighs about 3 pounds and is 12 inches long and is in a wood box with a leather strap for the handle. i was told it was a millwrite level, but cant find much info. on it. |

| Millrights we have work in our plant use similar levels, these were probably a part of a machinists tool package in the heavy machine and power plant or heavy electrical motors divisions. Most likely been sold off with other odd assorted tools the new owners of the other divisions of the company got rid of. |

Looks a lot smaller than the precision level I had but in the same idea as a millwrights level or machine set up level. I had the one from the shop where i worked and sold it for $400. It was about 15 lb in weight and lower surface was jeweled finish . When using it you were suppose to leave it within the room for several hours to become same ambient temp as surface it was set on . I used it to set up laser plotting machines and ruling engines and other such precision machines . Sold it to a mold making shop for setting up their CNC mill tables and machines ------------- Faith isn't a jump in the dark. It is a walk in the light.
