Which Roosa pump do you have? How many cc's? what size is the compressor inlet and the exhaust wheel on the HX40? Is this open RPM or a 3,000 RPM limit?

HX 35's work well on a 301. A 40 probably would to depending on the answers to the questions above.

Still running 390 head 3,000rpm. Problem egt still high with water injection. I was talking to a guy that specializes in holsets and he recommended a hx40 with 12cm. Exhaust housing. He think me running hx35 with 55,60 lbs boost that I'm losing power.I was just curious if someone had try a 40 and he recommended using waste gate on 40 to.

How much boost can a stock connecting rod take? Unless yours are hardened, I've always heard 45 lbs of boost is the limit,,

Your turbo guy could be right but before you jump to an HX 40, do you have the biggest HX35 available as far as wheels go? There are a few combinations.

I think a 40 would work well with a .450 head and rotor. With you .390 I'm not sure. Not many people have tried it (including myself) or they would respond to your post. Your just going to have to try it too see if it works or not. Not sure what your rules allow but an air to water intercooler allows you to run a bigger turbo. That would drop your EGT's as well.

For comparisons sake, I know a guy running an 2.5 inch inlet HX50 with the 3.03 outlet. With around 450 cc's out of an inline pump and an air to water intercooler it works really well and lugs like crazy. It is an open RPM class.

I run the s200  sx-e super core with 1.00 exhaust housing.  only two hooks on it last year though so dont have much input. Run a  touch over 3000 rpm, 450 roosamaster, 7th gear, 18.4-38's

The s300 is going to be in the neighborhood of the hx50. All that have them around me is greater then 450cc of fuel and 400ci or greater. If you are allowed a intercoolers run one. I have one that maybe for sale

I'm running 7th gear 7500 I installed an ice intercooler. I was going to get a 14cm for my hx35 and try that but this turbo guys seems to think I'm going beyond it so he recommended hx40 with 12cm and use waste gate.
