Has anyone converted their starters over to a solonoid operated starter on their dozer. I was wondering if their was enough room with the blower being right above it. I can get a new Delco MT39 or MT40 for fairly cheap and just wanted to know if they would fit before i buy one. I dont really care to rebuild the old one if i could get a new one that fits

Thanks
 Jeremy

The Delco starters have a rotatable nose, if it does interfere you may be able to re-orient the nose for clearance, just remember to align the cupped areas for the bolts to fit up correctly, no 1/2 hole adjustments.  They do also make alternate nose housings on th motor itself with the bolt holes oriented 1/2 hole off to the motor.

They work great, I have put them on every machine i rebuilt, the old style or original is hard or impossible to find parts for . I have 2 or 3 of them somewhere.
As I also converted over to alternator the idea of a key switch in system worked great . Mounting is no problem as it is a direct fit or replacement .
They are easy to find and at a right price in many areas. Seems they are standard across most truck engines and the supply is good on rebuilt or used takeouts.
