Have you checked the bolts that connect the bevel gear box to the frame tunnel? If they are getting loose you could have intermittent belt slip.

I need ideas on problem with my HB212, I am a retired engineer and have exhusted my ideas.
My tractor is super sensetive as the hydro control is moved. When the unit moves it has a periodic "surge" the rpms remain the same. I can take it out on the street af full throttle and speed, it works without surging. Problem has become progressivly worse over several years
I have:
Checked for leaks
Checked and replaced belts
Eliminated carburation probs
Replaced the Hydro filter
Verified positraction adjustment

Anybody had this prob? Things to try ?
