I need to remove the front cover on my xt. The problem is all of the harmonic balancer puller tools in town are too small. Would it be safe to remove with a three jaw puller? Any suggestions would be appreciated

NOOOOOO !!!! You CANNOT pull on the O.D. of any rubber isolated crankshaft pulley !!! Make yourself a puller: You goal is to pull from three of the six holes on the center hub. Use a 1 inch thick plate. Drill your holes to match three of the hub holes. Drill a 1 inch+ hole dead center. Use a 1 inch fine thread bolt and nut to tack weld under the center hole area. Use grade 8 bolts (7/16") long enough to position the 1" NF on the push side of the plate. Loosen the crankshaft bolt 2 full turns and press against the head of it. It sometimes takes 10 TONS of pressure to get it loose. Make the plate big enough you can drill three more holes for the 426 engine and have one tool for both.
