Would be similar to the old Detroit style mufflers. Horizontal with multiple inlets and one BIG outlet.

Morton i have this one off my parts machine. The muffler is rusted nearly gone. Seems to me one flange had been welded near a bolt hole but cant see in the picture, but better than yours by far. I can get more pics if your still interested, iv decided that it will do you more good than me so why not help you out. You can pm me to discuss if you wish.

Machine is a early model with the Buddha it is a hundred percent complete motor probably stuck, has a cable blade, it is a DC model with a torque, next time I'm up there I will get some pictures, may end up bringing it it home myself as I believe it could probably be a runner with some work definitely a lot of parts, I just have a lot going and several machines already on my agenda

rick my parts machine is a 16D with buda motor.  strange to have early motor in later long track machine, but I guess you use what works when something breaks

I travel the country quite a bit for my work. This coming year when I am in your state, we will talk about letting in to see the collection. I would love that Rick.

Hello Cal

Have you ever taken this type of manifold apart ? curious how hard to get the 3 sections separated from the pair of rings on each one. Are they designed to pull apart or are they like a spring clip that you have to work out of the joint?

Thank you

Those joints are a "slip fit". To assemble you squeeze them together and slid one manifold section into the other. to take apart you just pull the sections apart.

Old NH Cummins manifolds were as that. Rings did not wear, just a seal for the slip joint as parts heated up and moved around.
