some of you have seen the post were I was putting a front mounted hydro pump on my d14.  I had the grill shell, grill, radiator, etc. removed from the tractor in order to get to the crank shaft pulley.  I also had it apart when I was converting it to an alternator, so Why in the ..... didn't I replace the water pump then!!!  Today, I was up on the hill using the loader and the tractor started steaming. shut it down and could hear the anti freeze boiling.....  waited for it to cool down. started it and ran it to the hill and coasted it home...

after it cooled down, I started it and everything turned but the fan!!! water pump locked up!!! looks like I'll be getting a water pump, gasket, belt and pulley.  pulley looks ok, but is getting thin. so rather than tear this apart AGAIN!!! I'll just replace it now.

no water in the oil, so hopefully there's no permanent damage to the engine. managed 4 good years with out much of any breakdowns, sure making up fer it this year!!

it looks like the water pump is ok, just the pulley?  with the pulley on, the fan would only turn so far an stop, (I checked and made sure it wasn't hitting anything).  it appears one of the bolts for the adjustment part of the pulley broke off and was binding the pulley. gonna replace the pump anyway.  just hope there's no long term damage.

You still had water in it, and unless you were into a really hard boil you should be alright.
