I will be replacing the clutch on my 1948 Model B with a 8.5" clutch. What is the difference between the 8.5" and 9" clutch? Can I use a 9" clutch to replace the 8.5" clutch? Thanks.

Welcome Steve!!  Can you take out the existing clutch and have it rebuilt?  It would be cheaper than replacing it and then you would not have to worry about fitment between the two different clutches.

Thanks Stan. I'll consider having the clutch rebuilt. I was asking about the 9" clutch because to the price for a 9" is almost half of the 8.5" price.

Steve --Rick Corder is on this site.  He rebuilds Clutches.  I purchased 1 from him for dads WD45.  It looked like a brand new clutch when I received it.  The price was far less than purchasing one from someplace else.

The 9" clutches are for the Hand start tractors only. The ring gear for the electric start will not allow the 9" pressure plate to bolt up. Electric start B & C tractors must use the 8-1/2" clutch.
If it was fun to pull in LOW gear, I could have a John Deere.

I echo the post about Rick Corder. Very professional and reasonable prices. I just ordered clutch plates for a D-17 and a WD45. Just over $110 for both including shipping.
