Hello, a couple of years ago I bought an abused 7117 simplicity from a guy who had a friend of his put in a new B&S vanguard engine, but in doing so he spaced the drive shaft with one inch nuts, etc. so when that came apart when running it bent the drive shaft, took out the cooling fan on the engine etc. So after straightening the shaft I made spacers and spaced off the BGB and it has worked fine for two years. But in can't leaving anything alone I'm
in the process of making the correct length drive shaft, Anyway my question is does the E-ring on the engine end of the drive shaft serve any real purpose? If it does I'll cut a groove and install it or maybe I'll just weld a washer on the shaft in the correct spot. What do you think? Thanks Larry
