That is awesome. Sure wish I could go to
Eureka and see all the neat stuff. Thanks so much Mel, for sharing this hugely successful project with us. It got to be lately, that when I come on to this site, the construction forum is what I hit first in hopes of seeing more of your progress pictures. Guess I don't need to come on here any more now. See y'all! Darrel

Great work you guys! I guess all that rain was a mixed blessing, had more time to work on it but harder to get it done.

It sure does not seem like it was that long ago...
Jan. 5th., that was just 68 days ago... and you fellow didn't work on it all the time. Still very impressive to get it looking like that with just 5 gallons of paint... ![]() ![]() Guess when I down sized my scan, it don't look as good as it did at full resolution. ![]() but it still gives specs for it..., I think these are specs for ag cats. winches and hard nose and blade and guards etc., all weigh up more. |

Mel, your HD11 is goregous. I too, enjoyed watching your restoration progress. Thanks for all the photos, video, & descriptive text.
JC(WI), thanks for including a spec sheet for the HD11. I wonder what gears or speed it would pull certain tillage pieces. Anyone on forum have any experience doing tillage work with oldrr track tractors? |

John, Yes have pictures, having trouble getting videos to up load so we'll just go with what we have. It was raining when we got there as expected.
![]() Here's a link to the unload video. http://vid966.photobucket.com/albums/ae147/doowder1/HD11%20SHOWTIME/RRLC%202017%20HD11%20RRLC%20UNLOAD_zpsnt2bfbyx.mp4 ![]() They changed locations this year and relocated historical equipment to a different area. So we checked out the chain saw carvers. ![]() ![]() ![]() These first carvings go to the auction for there fund raising dinner. The others are sold to who ever. ![]() And then there was this cowboy standing there (price tag said $7500.00) And yes he was still standing there in the rain when we left. ![]() Lots of new logging equipment on display. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Lots of antique trucks. This was the show stopper, 1951 International. ![]() ![]() Lots of new and current working logging trucks. ![]() Ok, and this is for Shameless. In the earlier post after we tried to scam Shameless about painting the logos and small letters, I said I was going to "Tom Sawyer" some one into buying me a beer to let them finish painting our tractor. WRONG!! it didn't work out that way. I ended up buying the beer and provided AC collection hats to this attractive little gal that volunteered. But it's done now! (her family are loggers in Sonoma County Ca.) ![]() Here's a video link to a CAT 60 that was next to us. http://vid966.photobucket.com/albums/ae147/doowder1/HD11%20SHOWTIME/RRLC%202017%20SIXTY_zps73wmedqs.mp4 So Sat morning the rain began profusely as predicted and we left town. Have more videos if I can make them work I'll postem |

Thanks for posting the pics Mel! There was a lot of big money setting on display, guess there must still be some money to be made logging. Too bad it rained, was hoping it would come over the mountains and dump on us instead.
Something I learned years ago when unloading a dozer. If you put the blade down just before it tips back (or forward) the tipping shock is reduced. Edited by JohnCO - 24 Mar 2017 at 1:04pm |

That dozer looks great!!
Hard to imagine in 60 years all that new machinery will be just like your HD-11. I bet the guys who built those Allis dozers never dreamed they'd make it to this day and age, and people still care something about them! Not sure if the new stuff will make it that long with all the complicated electronics and stuff, but isn't that what they said when tractors with hydraulics came out? Lol |

Mel, thanks for sharing all the great show pics & videos. I really enjoy seeing photos & reading your descriptive verbiage for each. The HD11's 516 sounds great in the unloading video. Chainsaw guys should carve out a diamond AC logo plaque.

I loved the video of the Cat Sixty. It brought back memories of my childhood. Our local municipality had two of them. One pulled an elevating grader for building roads and the second was rigged up with a double drum winch and pulled a cable scraper that was used for putting approaches and driveways after the road was finished. They also used it for digging dugouts for water storage on the farms. I was about 10 when they rebuilt the road past our farm and I spend every moment I could watching those two old sixties work. When it came time to put in our driveway the operator let me sit on the round fuel tank while he built the driveway. What a thrill.

Mel, I forgot say that was a fantastic job. I never saw much Allis equipment where I lived. A company where I was assistant manager we had an old HD19. All it had on it was a single tooth ripper and it was used for ripping trenches when there was frost in the ground. We were using cable backhoes at the time so there was only the weight of the bucket and boom for down crowd. That old 6-71 with a straight pipe was a sweat sounding machine.
