I have a Sunstar with the kohler 2 cylinder engine,  the engine  wants to pulse , i mean the engine slows and then the governor opens up to speed it up.  happens as soon as the engine warms a little.  it coninues as long as the engine is running .what can i do to find and fix the problem ?

Sounds like it's running a little lean.
I'd open up the idle mixture some more.
Also, add a very healthy dose of ChemTool B-12 to clean out the carb to be sure it's not a contributing factor.

Have you opened up the fuel mixture screw a quarter turn and added a good dose of Chemtool B12 to your gas?
I only asked since we hadn't heard back from you whether you got it running better or not.
I'm also aware that you may have gotten busy with life and just hadn't got to it yet.
So, I was just curious.

Sounds like dirt in the Carburetor causing a lean condition as Jim mentioned. That's usually what the problem is when they "hunt" like that....

Have you found out what the issue was yet?
Or, is it still at the repair shop?

no   not  sold  yet,   still thinking about selling  it.    in  the mean   time  i took   it to a repair  shop,   the   trip  with  it  cost  me  a trailer tire and   a  tough   time  getting  it  fixed.   was   told  aweek   for  diagnostics.   when  i git home the  truck   brakes  went out  so  no truck   now.  and  into   4th  week  with   no estimate  yet.

Selling  sounds  better   all the time      i'll   keep you  all posted  .

Sunstar   diagnosis    the  governer  was off  a just a little  (me  ?  )    the plugs  were gapped way too wide  ( me ? )   still surges  need to do  the carb   $150  deepening   on whats found    ,     told him to fix  it  .    Truck/   a 93 chev blazer was towed in  today  2  brake hoses  and one  brake line,   no   bill   yet  .    trailer still needs  tire  replaced   .

Sounds  more   like  sell it  ,   will continue  when   all is done

one   last   update

Simplicity  Sunstar  up  date   its back   and now  runs  good
the mechanic   adjusted out  of  sync  governor,   reset the incorrect gap  on  the plugs   cleaned  and  set   the carb  ,   thanks to  him.   only mishap as a dead battery in  my truck  had  to jump start it to get home.    now   the question    will it  be  for  sale ?
i have  5  other mowers  including   one out on  loan,  3   that run   and one pieces  in rebuilding  one  of   which   is  brand new  .       I could   use  the space in  the shop  .
