The forum's been a little slow the last few days (everyone must be at hutch) and I owe Sugarmaker some pictures. So here some pictures of my 185 I bought last year. Tach says about 2600 hours on it and from the looks of the tractor and talking to the guy I bought it from, I believe it. Runs great but the fuel shutoff shaft seal leaks terrible on the pump. It also does occasionally loses power and dies but immediately restarts. When I get the WD45 complete I need to pull the pump off and get it worked on. Good job for Ed ;) Here's some pictures disking up the small patch in front of the house this spring. It pulled the 14' disk like nothing was there.    Scenery from my front porch. Everything was so green the middle of May  Drilling wheat last fall

Well Dave that's good lookin' soil. Does it have a little gumbo in it? I imagine it grows stuff like crazy. That's about as much fun as a person can stand.

Looks like it has a grille off from a 200. Not nitpicking or trying to insult anyone's intelligence. Just passing along info! Here's a 185 grille. Spent many hours on a 185.

Thanks for the pictures! The 185 looks like a tough unit! Your view is very pleasant too! Enjoy! The soil you disced up looks awesome. What's growing in there now? Yea that 185 was yawning with those discs.

yeah know Dan, I think you're right. There's aren't many newer Allis's in the area so I never noticed. Looked up in Norm's book, and all the 185 grills are orange like your's and the 200's are cream. The side panels and manifold are original either. They have "180" written on them in white paint marker and have different rust and paint color. I get a little nostalgic when I drive it and notice my right hand grabbing the right fender exactly where all the paint's wore off from someone else doing the same thing for many years.
It is good ground, the corn's tall enough now I don't think I can touch the tassels. To bad there's only about 1.5 acres of it and the other 25 acres is a sandy loam mix on top of the hill. It spent the first 100 years of their life as hog and cattle pens, so I'm there's plenty of good material in that soil. This is the first year I got a chance to rent it so we'll see how it does this year. First year farming a little on my own too.
John, That disk was really dissappointed it had to sit out this spring. It reminds me every morning to hurry up and finish that WD45 engine. Oh, and I'm still finding uses for that extra baling wire in the back of the truck.

Here's the 185's summer job. It only took about 3 times plugging the chopper to learn to use the power director instead of the foot clutch to stop.

Dave,
I think my dad had the same chopper. He would green chop for the cows every day in the summer if he could. Mad a lot of milk for a 35 cow dairy. Nice picture of the tractor and chopper.
Is that your farm in the background?

Along with being orange screened, the 185 grills have a more "squared" edge while the One-Eighty came originally with them rounded and cream painted screens. I like the cream painted look better than the orange. I also like the cream hood decals with the number spelled out rather than the black number decals. That all said, I'd love to have 185 with 2800 diesel for tillage over my One-Eighty with the 2500 gas. Not that I don't love my One-Eighty but the 10 extra HP would come in very handy along with the lower fuel consumption. The One-Eighty would be perfectly happy to resign it's primary tillage duties and just be a dedicated loader/winter snowblower tractor. Mike

The cows get all excited when that cart comes up the drive. It's funny when you drive the tractor up for another reason. They get pretty mad lol.
That is my grandpa farm in the background. Milked about 60 head until about 8 years ago they sold them. Grandpa turned 90 this year.
I never saw enough 180s to know the difference. Nice to know. The 301 is a nice size HP for this tractor. I think it leaks almost as much diesel as it uses. Lol. Gotta fix that this winter

Here's a better grill picture. So this could be a 180 grill? It would make since, because there are a few other parts labeled "180" on the tractor.
