How common are the 4' draw bar mounted brush hogs that you see on the back of a c or b? Anyone know what they worth? Also, were they a standard option or accessory for the b and c?

Tucker, the mower I am talking about looks different than that one. The one I have seen hooks up at two points on both sides of the draw bar. Kind of like to trailer hitches on one trailer.

The only thing I ever saw like that would be a Farmall Fast Hitch. Are you talking about a 3 point set-up? Lots of 3 point kits have been added to B's and C's and a 3 point mower is probably more common than any other set-up.

I figure it's shop-built, but I kinda like the idea. Recon the hydraulics would lift it if you put a rod from either side of the rockshaft down to the deck? Imagine you would have to put some weight out front of the tractor, but it might work.

Better have a stump jumper on that one, YIKES. No hydraulic lift would be a real pain unless you are just scalping the yard with it.

Hmm!  A semi-mounted bush-bob...  If you used lift links from the rockshaft with a cultivator depth crank to set the cut height, and a remote cylinder to lift the back via a 2-way plow valve, that would be a neat little rig!

I( suppose they would, I cant tell whether the hitch is stationary or hinged, If it wasnt hinged you would want your bar more toward the back of the machine, alf lift the whole thing a few inches. It looks like it has caster wheels from TSC or a surplus shop on the rear

The way it seems to hook on is with two trailer hitch set ups. What would everyone be willing to gamble on this?

I took classes for fabrication and welding. The hitch bar assembly/setup looks original or who ever did it did an awesome job! because if you look closely at the two bends in the bar on both side where it hooks up, those were bent with a machine and/or done professionally. They are very clean bends for being a jerry-rig setup.

they look like bends are bends up to me. My deer blind trailer (an old folding trailer) has the same bends in the same places

those are interesting, they look like they are incorperated into the bar. I would love to see more close ups of this set up.

The gearbox design and mount remind me of a Bush Hog brand.

I would say that someone took the tongues from two small trailers or car dollies, removed the existing trailer hitch from a Bush hog flail mower, and installed them in it's place. They then removed part of the existing axle from the mower, welded on the rear "box", then put the swivel casters on there. Geometry is all wrong on the casters. They wouldnt swivel right with the mower raised much higher than it is now.

It could be reworked with a different frame for larger casters, and would be pretty nice. Would still want a way to raise and lower it with the tractor hydraulics.

I didn't do it! It was a short, fat, tall, skinny guy that looked like me!

I just inherited a 1939 Allis-Chalmers Model B and would love to get a rotary cutter to spread my 6 acres of Coastal Bermuda here in Central TX... but all I'm finding are rotary cutters for tractors with a 3 point hitch.  What's the best path for me to take:  keep looking for a rotary cutter that will work with my drawbar (and 560rpm PTO) or add a 3 point hitch conversion? Regardless of which option you think is best, can someone point me in the right direction on where to get one?

I have one and it is driven by a big V belt. I will never use it. I will post a picture of it tomorrow. Mine was used with my 38 B. Have no idea if it even works.

John Deere used to make  small rotary cutters like that back in the early 1970s and there are probably a few of them still around.  They had a tongue that hooked to the drawbar and  it was lifted by the remote cylinder and two wheels on either side of the back of it.   We had one because we had a Massey Harris 44 which has the PTO high up on the back of the tractor above where the bottom of the top link hooks on making it utterly it useless for PTO driven three point implements.

I think the one we had was either a 509 or 609.  It basically looked like this but was half as wide.
