Can anyone tell me what engine were used in the Allis Forklifts. Did they use a Buda 262 propane? or was it a 230.

Depends on which model we're talking about. I worked in a warehouse that had an old Allis forklift. It had a Continental engine in it. I guess it depends on what model industrial tractor for a 230 or 262.

Jim, what are you up to now?  A-C used 153, 230, and 262 engines in forklifts. I have a lot of forklift info so if you have the forklift model, I'll check it out for you. Remember I'm away next week. Are you comming to the Club meeting Saturaday?

Calvin, I am going to look at a six cylinder engine that came out Allis Forklift. Its a buda not sure if its a 230 or 262 was a propane engine. It maybe be good to have for parts...etc

Not sure if I can make the meeting. Have a great trip if we don't talk before you leave.

My A-C forklift has the Buda diesel in it,looks same as yours, though I'm missing those louvered side covers.I had 'fun' replacing the fanbelt last month. The small weight under the rad grille weighs in at 310# AND you have to remove the hyd. pump as well.
Tough beast, lifts 5000# without complaining.
The nameplate should have stamped info, mine was very hard to read though.
