having trouble getting the rear end to fit to the torq tube, the power director fit on the flywheel output shaft snug and turned freely now its near impossible to turn. the two halves are only about a inch apart and I have already rounded the threads for two of the torq tube hole already to no advance. what am I missing?

#1. Did you replace the 3 inch diameter bronze bushing in the front of the Power Director clutch ?? If so, you must ream/machine it to the proper size. You only do this once and then you never replace one again.    #2. If this bronze bushing is the old one, you must somehow bump the starter a little at a time while TWO of you are pushing it together with everything at the correct height and square to each other. You cannot be drawing it together with bolts like you are trying to do as you'll damage something. BE CAREFUL NOT TO SPIN THE ENGINE AND HAVE IT ACCIDENTLY START  !!!!!

sounds like a couple of threaded holes now

seriously, you can't force this stuff together. patients and turning things until they mesh is the answer

.002" sounds too tight to me. I'd say .005" t0 .006" might be better. Never ever change that bushing.
